The path to accreditation involves a three-part process designed to celebrate each space’s unique context and culture:

  1. Submit an Application
    • Fill out our general intake form. The purpose of this form is to provide some initial information about those applying and then to initiate a conversation that continues over a period of time in order to assess whether or not accreditation is right for your group.
    • There is $100 USD non-refundable application fee, which can be made here via PayPal (contact us for alternative forms of payment)
  2. Remote Interviews with community members
    • Our team will remotely interview people in your community, including staff, care providers, and young people. The goal of this step is to get to know your community better and to ensure that SDE YRA is right for your community before further expenses are made.
  3. Site Visit to observe practices in action
    • This flexible approach respects local laws and cultural nuances, ensuring that all communities have equal access to recognition. Additionally, fees are adjusted for local economies, making accreditation accessible worldwide. Once accredited, the recognition lasts for five years.

Beyond the $100 USD non-refundable application fee, your group will be responsible for paying for a representative from our organization to come out and make a 3-5 day site visit.

And then there is a sliding scale yearly cost for accreditation based on your group’s finances from $10 USD to $100 USD per young person enrolled per year, adjusted to the cost of living of your local economy. Our goal is to make this affordable for your group while ensuring that our organization is sustainable.
